Open Breno

Quickstart

Create a workspace, put something in, ask it a question and check the source. About ten minutes, and no card needed.

This takes about ten minutes. By the end you will have put something into Breno, asked it a question, and opened the source behind the answer.

1. Create an account#

Go to the sign-up page at app.breno.ng/register and create an account. Your first workspace is created with it.

2. Put something in#

Open Knowledge in the left navigation, choose Add to knowledge, and pick one of:

  • Add text to write or paste a note. Give it a title; it is saved as a Markdown note you can edit later.
  • Upload files to add documents, spreadsheets, slides, images or audio. Files up to 25 MB are accepted. See Supported files and limits.
  • Add link to save a web page, video or file link. Breno fetches and reads it in the background.

Each item is read and indexed in the background, and its status shows in the list. It becomes searchable once it has been read. If a step cannot finish it shows a reason, and you can retry it.

3. Ask it something#

Open New Chat and ask a question you already know the answer to, about what you just added. For example:

A first question
What did we decide about the launch date, and why?

The answer is written from your own material. Numbered markers in the text point to its sources, and the answer shows how confident it is. If the evidence is not there, it says so instead of guessing.

4. Check the source#

Select a numbered citation to see the passage it came from, who wrote it, when, and where it lives. Open the original to read it in place. Why this answer? shows how the answer was put together. See Ask and citations.

5. Connect a tool (optional)#

Open Sources, choose Browse, pick an app and select Connect. Slack, Google Drive, Gmail, Notion, GitHub, Jira and Linear bring their content into Breno; other apps in the catalog connect but do not yet bring knowledge in. See Connect sources and the sources reference.

6. Take it with you#

Open Export and choose Export everything or My knowledge. Breno builds one ZIP in the background: Markdown, your original files, and a checksum for every member. You can read it without Breno. See Export your knowledge.
